Health Sciences Students Serve Lower Valley Communities at Annual Health Fair
The ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ College of Health Sciences, together with the Fabens, San Elizario and Tornillo Independent School Districts, hosted its annual community health fair in late March at Tornillo High School. ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ students and faculty from Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Health Promotion, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Sciences, Social Work, and Speech Language Pathology joined forces with over 70 community agencies to bring information and health services to nearly 600 attendees.
Services offered included several types of screenings (bone density, dental, hearing, HIV/STD and vision, as well as immunizations. Other community partners provided information on legal aid, child and adult abuse awareness, mental health services, home health services and environmental preparedness. Visitors also had an opportunity to donate blood while at the fair.
