Community Engagement
成人头条 Miners give back to their community while also acquiring essential skills that help with their academic learning and formation as citizens and professionals. Through a variety of community activities, students learn about social contexts and challenges as well as how to positively impact their community.
Students may engage in the community in a variety of ways:
- Volunteering and Community Service- a practice where students may volunteer one day, one hour, or on an ongoing basis
- Service-learning- community engagement that is done in conjunction with a course where academic credit is earned through structured service projects
- Community-work study or internships- may be paid or unpaid positions working with community partner organizations, typically 15-19 hours a week for one or more semesters.
- Community-based research projects- students conduct research with and for the community for the betterment of an identified issue.
How do students and faculty get involved?
