Juan Miguel Bola帽os
MBA Student Helps Undergrads Succeed
Early College High School (ECHS) graduate and Accelerated Master of Business Administration (aMBA) student Juan Miguel Bolaños has taken advantage of unique opportunities to pursue his education while giving back to his community. As part of the second graduating class of Mission Early College High School, the violinist, mentor, and native El Pasoan now uses his experience and education to mentor students in the ECHS program.
Juan’s undergraduate education and early work experience inform his love of science and passion for mentoring. An undergraduate research assistantship in Dr. Kristin Gosselink’s neuro-endocrine lab gave him insight into the development of new medical technologies. His subsequent work as a recruiter showed him how “science and business come together to make this neat combination of different career options.”
After working for the grant funded pre-med program, he joined the Early College High School (ECHS) Academic Success Center as a full-time program advisor. "I was fortunate to have really great mentors that opened my eyes to those different opportunities," Juan Miguel said, adding, "I would like to do the same.”
In his current role, Juan is doing just that, mentoring students and building networks to support their success. “The primary reason the center exists,” he explains, “is to facilitate the transition of early college high school students from high school and EPCC over to the university, which can be difficult for some.” The center manages some scholarship opportunities and helps students maintain their funding eligibility and make progress. “A lot of what I do,” Juan continues, “has to do with communicating with high school counselors to prepare students for NSO [and answering] any questions they may have.”
Though Juan stays busy with this important work and his passion for violin, piano, and ukulele, he makes time to complete his MBA courses. The Accelerated program allows him to attend class in the afternoon and weekends and earn is MBA in about two years. Reflecting on his own experiences, Juan encourages others to be open to the variety of possibilities present at 成人头条. “Come with an open mind about different opportunities,” he says. “There are going to be different pathways and different careers you haven’t thought about yet.”
In addition to the Accelerated MBA, 成人头条 offers a fast-track option for current undergraduates, an 18-month Executive MBA, and a Full-Time MBA. Click here for more information about these and other programs.
