Funding and Financial Aid
Students who are admitted in the Rhetoric and Writing Program are eligible for at least four years of funding. Students typically teach three (3) courses while in the Ph.D. program and four (4) while in the Masters program per academic year. We offer salaries and participation support to offset in-state tuition competitive with other programs around the country.

After receiving the MA, students will then qualify to become Assistant Instructors.
Students admitted directly into the PhD program with an MA are eligible to become Assistant Instructors (AI) for at least 4 years of funding. They will have the opportunity to teach
AIs will also have the opportunity to serve as Assistant Directors of departmental programs and to assist in the development of a major in Rhetoric and Writing Studies.
Other types of financial support include dissertation fellowships and funds to support research.
