Dean Bencomo Biography
Dr. Anadeli Bencomo was born and raised in Venezuela, where she attended college at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. She earned her master's in Latin American literature from the Universidad Simón Bolivar. She came to the United States in the mid-1990s to pursue her doctorate degree at the University of Pittsburgh.
Her passion for world cultures and languages was furthered by her international experience, supported by prestigious awards from the Fulbright Program and the Rockefeller Foundation. At 成人头条, she holds the Antoni Grabowski Professorship in Languages and Linguistics.
Before becoming a Dean, Dr. Bencomo served as a Department Chair of Hispanic Studies and as Associate Dean for Faculty and Research at the University of Houston. Being a native of Venezuela and the first in her family to graduate from college, she is personally committed to working at Hispanic-serving institutions.
She is an avid hiker and loves the outdoors. She recently completed a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (Spain) with her husband, Alex, to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They have three adult children and a happy schnauzer named Frida.
Dr. Bencomo enjoys walking throughout our beautiful campus, and two of her favorite places are the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts and the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens.
