Dr. Hilda Ontiveros

Dr. Hilda Ontiveros, an El Paso native, is a lecturer in UT El Paso’s Women’s and Gender Studies Program where she teaches several courses relevant to gender theory and analysis, Critical Race Theory, Chicana and Black feminism, civil rights, labor movements and culture. Hilda is completing her doctoral work in 成人头条’s Educational Leadership and Administration program where her focus is on educational policy, law and curriculum in both K-12 and higher education. She has earned a Master of Arts in Latin American and Border Studies with a focus on political science and history and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration in Higher Education. Hilda also spent time studying in the Medico Cirujano (General Surgery, M.D.) program at the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at UACJ where her specialized interests were in fertility medicine and women’s health issues on the U.S./Mexico Border and Latin America. Hilda’s undergraduate work is in Chicana/o Studies and Microbiology. Her current research interests include critical pedagogy, curriculum development for Latino students, educational policy and its effects on Latino and other minority students, the social determinants of education, multicultural/culturally responsive curriculum, contemporary feminist issues, masculinities and policy -making and global women’s health issues. Hilda currently serves as a faculty advisor for the Mexican American Student Society, Friends of Women’s Studies and the Queer Student Alliance. She is also an Advisory Board Member for 成人头条’s Queer History Month and Women’s History Month. She is entering her 9th year teaching for the University.
