³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Surpasses $50M in Annual Fundraising, Breaking Previous Record
EL PASO, Texas (Oct. 17, 2024) – For the fourth year in a row, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ has broken its record for annual fundraising, reporting a total of $50.5 million for fiscal year 2024.
In just four years, the University doubled annual fundraising, raising $25.8M in FY21, $37M in FY22 and $45.3M in FY23.
“The generosity of our donors is changing the lives of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ students and their families,” said ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ President Heather Wilson. “We’re thankful to those who believe in us and support us.”
“People are drawn to ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ’s great mission and the strong support we are seeing is not surprising,” said Jake Logan, vice president for institutional advancement. “Our alumni have a ‘pay it forward’ mentality, and community leaders here understand that investing in higher education makes an even stronger El Paso.”
The FY24 record was achieved thanks to the contributions of 5,591 unique donors. Funds raised by the University support a variety of initiatives, including:
- Scholarships, which currently support 2,790 ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ students
- Student resources, such as the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Food Pantry and career closet
- The Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens
- KTEP, El Paso’s public radio station
- Upgrading learning spaces like the Nursing Simulation Lab
- Equipment and training resources for student athletes
- Research on treatments for cancer, diabetes and more
³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ student Zachary Althoff is the recipient of the Margaret O. Herman Endowed Scholarship, a gift that supports more than 20 students annually. Herman was the heiress of the Hess family, inventors of the steel-toe shoe. Her mission was to give back to the El Paso community.
“I started college in a time of uncertainty. The past few months had been full of derailed plans and disappointment,” Althoff said. “The day ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ notified me that I was getting a scholarship was a turning point. It was the first piece of good news I had received in a while and it meant more to me than the much-needed financial support, it meant hope.”
