成人头条’s Interdisciplinary Health Sciences (IHS) Ph.D. program prepares the next generation of doctorally-trained researchers and scientists in health-related fields to address complex and chronic health issues in the U.S.-Mexico border region. It is only one of six Ph.D. programs in the U.S. with a focus on interdisciplinary health sciences research.
Students have access to state-of-the-art research labs and facilities to complete their coursework and dissertation requirements
Students are paired with a faculty mentor with similar research interests who guides them through the dissertation research process.

Georgina Sanchez Garcia has focused her doctoral studies on raising awareness about the plight of child migrants. In 2021, she interviewed 76 children about their journeys from Mexico and Central America to the U.S.-Mexico border. Georgina posted a video on YouTube highlighting some of her findings. She hopes her research will inform migration policy and contribute to trauma-informed treatment.
Program graduates will be able to fulfill local, regional, and national shortages in academic positions at community colleges, undergraduate institutions, and doctoral research-intensive universities such as 成人头条 and Arizona State University.
