The DNP program emboldened Michelle Calderon to advocate for patients suffering from headache disorder. A family nurse practitioner for over 10 years, Michelle was named a DOD Primary Care Pain Champion for her DNP project, which involved implementing an evidence-based protocol to accurately assess and treat headache pain in patients at an Army-run outpatient clinic.
The DNP is the terminal degree for clinical nursing practice. Nurses who have their DNP possess the highest level of nursing expertise and work either in a clinical setting or leadership role in a hospital or health organization.
