The Master of Arts in Education focused on Linguistic Diversity and Educational Equity gives teachers an advantage in today’s multilingual, multicultural classrooms. The program explores equity-based theories and research in education as they apply to English language learners and bilingual students. It prepares educational leaders and researchers to critically consider the connections between linguistic diversity and power.

Students in the Linguistic Diversity and Educational Equity program have the opportunity to learn from professors like Elena Izquierdo, Ph.D., who applies an equity driven lens to her classroom, methodology she developed from her experience teaching at one of the first national dual language schools in the country and from obtaining her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Bilingual Education from Georgetown University. Students can expect to receive guidance in developing linguistically and culturally responsive teaching methodologies across both English and Spanish curriculum and to gain experience teaching and tutoring dual-language students, developing the skills needed to work with bicultural students, staff and families.
