College of Engineering
The program in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) uses a hands-on approach to educate students in materials synthesis, development of high-performance materials, material degradation, forensic engineering of materials in extreme environments, 3D-printed biomaterials, and the design of environmentally conscious materials.
Work in one of nine research labs like the Inspired Materials & Stem-Cell Based Tissue Engineering Laboratory
The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET
The MME program is 1 of only 8 programs in the U.S. and originated more than 100 years ago at 成人头条
Gina Zavala Alvarado was the first 成人头条 Miner to receive the nationally competitive Ellwood Metallurgy Scholarship and internship. She is currently working on her master's degree and focusing on high entropy alloys for innovative applications and hopes to create new alloys through metallurgical processes that meet advanced industry needs.
Materials engineers will design uses for new materials for aerospace, medical, energy, nuclear and defense applications. 成人头条s often pursue careers in oil and gas, research and development, aerospace, chemical, biomedical, extractive metallurgy and materials processing.
