FULBRIGHT U.S. STUDENT PROGRAM

The Fulbright Student Program provides successful applicants with fellowships for research, teaching, or Master’s study in over 140 countries worldwide. It is also an opportunity to represent the United States overseas as a cultural ambassador and to share your perspective on the American experience. Following the conclusion of World War II, Senator J. William Fulbright from Arkansas proposed legislation to create this program as a means of promoting goodwill between the U.S. and other countries. President Harry S. Truman signed the bill in 1946 and each year, the U.S. Congress appropriates funds to the Department of State to sponsor this award.

Fulbright alumni include 61 Nobel Prize recipients, 75 MacArthur Foundation Fellows, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, and 40 current or former heads of state. Fulbright returnees become part of this rich professional network and receive 12 months of non-competitive eligibility (NCE), which gives them an edge when applying for jobs with the U.S. government. 成人头条 Fulbright applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in our virtual “Fulbright Summer Boot Camp” advising program. This program is offered via Zoom each summer from the beginning of June until the Campus Endorsement Deadline and walks participants through the process of putting together a competitive application. Participants will attend a series of weekly workshops on the individual application components, network with previous 成人头条 Fulbright recipients, and work closely with the Office of Student Fellowships and Awards on proposal development and draft review.
