Admission Requirements
The program admissions committee will make recommendations to the 成人头条 School on admission based on an assessment of candidates' academic achievement and potential. Applicants will apply through the 成人头条 School, submitting an application form and supporting materials:
- Official transcripts of all previous academic work
- Official scores on the 成人头条 Record Exam
- Official scores on the TOEFL (if appropriate)

Applicants must have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely-related discipline. The admissions committee will evaluate the preparation of non-civil engineering applicants and recommend leveling courses as appropriate. These courses will not be part of the Ph.D. degree plan. Applicants who do not have degrees from English medium universities will be required to submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 213/550 is required for admission and for appointment to a teaching assistantship.
Recommendations for admission will be made on the basis of the following:
- Grade point average in upper division or graduate work as appropriate
- Scores on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE
- Research and professional commitment and interest as demonstrated by the personal statement, letters of recommendation, and other materials as available
- Letters of recommendation.
Students admitted at the bachelor's level may elect to complete a master's degree in the Department of Civil Engineering, but will be required to complete all of the requirements of the degree as indicated in the catalog.
Students admitted with a master's degree or master's course work may request to the admissions committee that up to 24 semester credit hours (taken at the graduate level with a grade of B or better) be applied to the Ph.D. degree plan. Credit hours earned in research, thesis, and independent study courses may not be applied.
