Master's Admission
Admission Requirements
Completion of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or in another related engineering discipline is required for admission to any of the Master's programs in Civil Engineering. Students need at least a 2.75 (4.00 base) junior-senior grade point average to be considered for admission.
Applicants will apply through the 成人头条 School, submitting an application form and supporting materials:
- Official transcripts of all previous academic work
- Official scores on the 成人头条 Record Exam
- Official scores on the TOEFL (if appropriate)
- Personal Statement
- Three letters of recommendation from individuals qualified to assess the applicant's potential for MS work
- Other evidence of relevant personal or professional experience.
Applicants who do not have degrees from English medium universities will be required to submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of 213/550 is required for admission and appointment to a teaching assistantship.
Recommendations for admission will be made on the basis of the following:
- Grade point average in upper division work as appropriate
- Scores on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE
- Research and professional commitment and interest as demonstrated by the personal statement, letters of recommendation, and other materials as available
- Letters of recommendation.
A student with an undergraduate degree in a non-engineering field may be admitted, on a conditional basis, to any of the graduate programs in Civil Engineering. The student would remain on a conditional basis until completing the engineering undergraduate requirements in mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering sciences (including thermo-fluids, statics and mechanics of materials, dynamics, and engineering economics). Upon completion of the above preparatory courses, or their equivalent, with a minimum grade point average of 2.75, the student will be admitted into the graduate program. These preparatory courses cannot be used to satisfy any of the graduate degree course requirements.
In addition, students with an engineering degree not in Civil Engineering may be admitted on a conditional basis into the graduate program. The students must complete certain undergraduate requirements in Civil Engineering depending on the area of specialization pursued.
