Laptop Support
For best results, use an antivirus and a web filter. The antivirus protects by catching viruses as you use your computer. The other protection is with a web filter on your internet browser to keep you away from bad sites. If you get a virus, run scans and remove viruses as needed. But, if all fails, bring your laptop to ETC.
Protection 1: Activate Antivirus on Windows 10

Activate Windows Defender on Windows 10: Click Start - Settings - Update and Security - Windows Defender - Real-time Protection. And : Search - Task Scheduler - Task Scheduler Library - Microsoft - Windows - Windows Defender - Select Properties on the right - Triggers - New - Daily - Set time to start - OK.

Remove Viruses for Windows

Run scans using your antivirus software such as Windows Defender. Scans will take a while and remove viruses as needed. Repeat the process until no more viruses are found.

Get the .exe with size 3.8 MB.

Only check status for Good, Caution, or Bad.

Should only see Good status, otherwise your hard disk is going to crash, so do a backup.

Create a recovery drive: Even if your PC cannot start, you can use a recovery drive to reset it or troubleshoot problems. If you backup system files to this drive, you'll also be able to reinstall Windows.

Laptops can be checked-out for 2 to 4 hours between 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. The student ID is kept until the laptop is returned. If the laptop is not returned, a hold is created in the department.

TSC equipment check-out:

50 Windows laptops, 10 Mac Airs, 12 iPad 2s, 9 Chrome notebooks available for the entire Campus.

Loan period is 3 days, including weekends and holidays.

There is a 3 day grace period between check-outs.

Note: exceptions can be made to students who are taking a class that start at 7:30 AM by picking up the laptop the day before and returning the laptop after the class on the next day.
You can print files through a website, email, or a local printer queue while on the 成人头条 Wireless or with the VPN if from home.
Use to print files using a website that does not require the installation of drivers. You can also print by sending the file to wirelessbw@utep.edu for black and white or wirelesscolor@utep.edu for color printing. You can find more information at .
Use the Windows 7/8 printer driver to create a printer queue in your personal laptop. You can also download the PrintWhere driver from . After installing the driver, run the PrintWhere Printer Manager by clicking on the icon in your desktop. Search for Keywords "成人头条", then select preferences and edit the Account Settings with your username and password. The name of the printer in the Control Panel is called "PrintWhere", you can change the name of the printer to "成人头条".
You can pick up your print-out from any keypad printer located all around campus.
