Alpha Phi Omega

The Alpha Phi Omega Engineering Fraternity (APO) was an engineering organization founded in 1919 at the Texas College of Mines & Metallurgy. It was a social fraternity for Engineering and Geology students that engaged in many school spirited activities during their St. Patrick celebration. Those same celebrations are driving today's longest-running tradition on the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ campus, TCM Day.

The members of APO all had great stories about great times in college. With the help of a past APO advisor, the APOs were able to create an endowment in 1990 to recognize students for their campus and college involvement. Every year, two students are recognized with plaques in honor of two former APO members who became ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ faculty: Professor Walter R. Roser and Dean Eugene M. Thomas. Other students are recognized with a plaque honoring a rotating list of former APOs.

Faculty and staff from the College of Engineering and the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences are ask to nominate an undergraduate student. Applications timeline is as follows:
