Tier 1 - Spring

Spring Session 1 – Program launch and exploring learning and skill objectives

This opening session will set the stage for your journey. Together, we’ll explore the learning and skill objectives that will guide you through the program and help you refine your teaching practices with technology. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the course structure, get a sneak peek at the tools we’ll be working with, and start thinking about your goals for course transformation. By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear vision of where you want to go and the skills you’ll need to get there.

Spring Session 2 – Teaching and Learning with Technology Best Practices

  • Thursday, February 13th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Online Meeting

 In this session, we’ll dive into best practices for using technology in the classroom, focusing on how to increase student engagement, foster deeper learning, and optimize your course design. From interactive tools to digital collaboration techniques, you’ll learn how to create dynamic and impactful learning experiences. Whether you're new to edtech or already a pro, this session will provide you with actionable strategies to make your teaching more interactive, accessible, and successful.

Spring Session 3 – Brainstorm/Working Lab

  • Thursday, February 27th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Online Meeting

This interactive, hands-on session is designed to help you brainstorm, collaborate, and start drafting the innovations you want to bring to your course. Whether you’re considering new tech tools, revising your syllabus, or rethinking your teaching approach, you’ll get to work on your ideas with guidance from expert instructional developers and your peers. By the end of the session, you will leave with actionable plans to move forward with your course redesign.

Spring Session 4 – Creating the Assessments

  • Thursday, March 20th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Online Meeting

In this session, you’ll learn how to create assessments that not only test knowledge but also engage students in their own learning process. We’ll explore digital assessment tools, strategies for creating rubrics, and ways to align assessments with your learning objectives. You’ll leave with ready-to-use ideas for integrating formative and summative assessments that support your course’s overall goals.

Spring Session 5 – Feedback from Peers

  • Thursday, April 17th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Online Meeting

Peer feedback is a cornerstone of the Teach Tech program, and in this session, you’ll receive constructive, insightful feedback from your fellow faculty members. As you present your course design ideas and technology integrations, your peers will offer suggestions, share experiences, and provide new perspectives. This session isn’t just about receiving feedback; it’s about learning how to iterate and improve. Together, we’ll fine-tune your approach to ensure your course is as engaging and impactful as possible.

Teach Tech Tier 2 – Summer

Summer Session 1 – Course building lab with Blackboard Ultra

  • Thursday, June 12th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Online Meeting

Now it’s time to get hands-on! In this lab session, we’ll walk you through the process of building a course using Blackboard Ultra. You’ll learn how to create accessible content, manage assignments, design interactive learning modules, and personalize your course structure for maximum student engagement. Whether you’re migrating from Blackboard Original or learning the finer points of Blackboard Ultra, this session will give you the tools and confidence you need to build your course from the ground up.

Summer Session 2 – Course evaluation with OSCQR Technology rubric

How do you know if your course design is truly effective? In this session, we’ll introduce you to the rubric, a comprehensive tool that helps evaluate the quality and accessibility of your course. You’ll learn how to assess your course using a set of criteria focused on technology integration, learner engagement, and overall course structure. By the end of the session, you’ll be able to identify areas for improvement and ensure your course meets best practices for both teaching and learning. 

Teach Tech Tier 3 – Fall

Fall Session 1 – Course Launch

It’s time to unveil your transformed course! In this session, you’ll walk through the process of launching your course to your students, ensuring everything is set for success. We’ll discuss tips for introducing your course effectively, setting clear expectations, and managing the first week’s activities. You’ll also learn how to ensure students are well-prepared to engage with the tech tools you've integrated into your course. From setting up communication channels to creating a welcoming course environment, this session will ensure your course launch is smooth and seamless.

Fall Session 3 – Showcase (Data & Summary)

  • Thursday, December 4th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am – location TBA

It’s time to showcase the work you’ve done! In this final session, you’ll present the results of your course transformation, reflecting on how your use of technology has enhanced your students’ learning experience. We’ll take a deep dive into the data: how student engagement has increased, what the feedback has been, and how the new tech tools have impacted student outcomes. You’ll share your experience with your peers, celebrate your successes, and discuss any lessons learned. This session will not only serve as a conclusion to the program but also as a launchpad for your continued growth as a tech-savvy educator.
