Networks
A key function of InSPIRE is to facilitate and foster networks that support the university’s mission. The networks can be formal or informal. Formal networks are supported through Communities of Practice (CoPs) and Affinity Groups, some of which are featured below.
Communities of Practice
Communities of Practice (CoP) are groups of individuals who share an interest, concern, or passion, and through the CoP interact regularly to improve what they do. CoP connect people with people, people with experts, and people with information (e.g., resources on campus and effective practices). The intent is to encourage sharing and to motivate action to address challenges and opportunities collectively. Go to to check out the list of existing CoPs.
Mama Academic
Mama Academic is an affinity group for faculty and staff who are caregivers, mothers, or soon to be mothers, who seek a supportive community on campus to share resources and information regarding the well-being and success of women in academia.
