Delta Kappa Chapter Membership
The Delta Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International at the University of Texas at El Paso, College of Nursing supports the vision for sustainable development for excellence in nursing research/EBP, education and practice. Working toward this goal, our Chapter invites nursing students and practicing nurse leaders who meet the eligibility requirements to apply to join our Chapter. Sustainability of nursing excellence is dependent upon human interaction collaboration and commitment.
Categories and Eligibility
- Junior or senior students enrolled in the baccalaureate nursing program at the University of Texas at El Paso College of Nursing (traditional, second degree or RN/BSN) who completed at least ½ of the nursing curriculum, rank in the upper 35 percent of their graduating class and have achieved academic excellence (at least 3.0 of the 4.0 GPA).
- Master’s or Doctoral students enrolled in graduate nursing programs at the University of Texas at El Paso who have completed at least ¼ of the curriculum, have achieved academic excellence (at least 3.5 of the 4.0 GPA).
- Practicing Registered Nurses who are no longer in school and are legally licensed to practice in the U.S., hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing, and have demonstrated achievement in nursing are eligible to apply for membership as a “Community Nurse Leader”.
Application & Acceptance Process
- Academically eligible students are identified by the 成人头条/CON Office of Student Services and will receive an invitation to apply for membership to Sigma & the Delta Kappa Chapter. Completion of application information by the stated deadline will be reviewed by the Chapter Membership Counselors. Approved applicants are officially inducted as members of Sigma Theta Tau International and our Delta Kappa Chapter. The Induction Ceremony is scheduled at the end of each semester and summer session.
- Applications submitted by eligible practicing nurses will be reviewed by the Chapter Board/Officers or designed review committee. Approved “Community Nurse Leader” applicants are inducted with approved nursing students at the same Induction Ceremony.
Renewal/ Reactivation Process: Today
When you are accepted as a member of Sigma, you are a member for life. However, for a variety of life situations, you have not renewed your membership, the process to re-activate your membership with all services/benefits is very easy.
