Payroll Deduction
Payroll deduction can be made on a monthly basis or as a one-time deduction.
If employee selects payroll deductions on a monthly basis, it will be spread over 9 months starting with the October 1st payroll and ending with the June 1st. For employee permit purchases after August 31st OR permit returns and new permit purchases within the fiscal year, monthly payroll deduction amounts will be adjusted, for the last deduction to be collected by June 1st.
- If permit purchased on November 14th, there are only 7 months of payroll left (December 1st – June 1st), monthly payments will be spread over 7 months instead of 9.
Employee deductions can be made on a Pre-tax or Post-tax basis.
- Pre-tax Payroll deductions will take place before taxes are paid.
- Post-tax Payroll deductions will take place after taxes have been deducted.
Please refer to The Payroll website for more details about differences between Pre-tax and Post-tax options.
Refunds
Refunds will not be issued to employees under the monthly payroll deduction option. If permit is returned between the 1st and the 15th day of the month, deductions will stop on their current month paycheck. If permit is returned between the 16th and the end of the month, deductions will stop on their next month’s paycheck.
The only time when an employee participating in payroll deduction can receive a refund is if their payment method is one time deduction (full payment) by payroll deduction.
All outstanding parking balances must be paid in order to stop future payroll deductions or issue refunds.
Separation
If an employee is separating from the University, parking permit(s) must be returned:
- If permit is returned between the 1st and the 15th of the month and all outstanding parking balances have been collected, any future payroll deductions will stop.
- If permit is returned between the 16th and the end of the month, a final payroll deduction will be collected on the employee's last check for any outstanding parking balances.
- If no permit is returned, payroll collections will remain active and no refund will be issued in case of eligibility.
