Check-Out Information
Check-Out during the Academic Year or at the end of the Fall Semester
Important Steps for All:
- Complete the Contract Cancellation Request. To do so, log in to the Resident Portal.
- Create an appointment with your Resident Assistant for your check-out.
- Print and fill out a roommate cleaning contract. All roommates need to have a copy of the cleaning contract. Also, all roommates need to sign and agree. This is beneficial for it will help distribute the cleaning of the room.
Find the cleaning contract here - Move all of your belongings out of your room. Your room should be clean and empty when your Resident Assistant arrives.
- Prepare all your papers and elements you have to hand in:
- Room Key
- Mailbox Key
- Cleaning Contracts
- When the Resident Assistant arrives, have in hand all of the mentioned above for a faster check-out. Give them upon request.
- The Resident Assistant will walk your apartment and bedroom to inspect for any damages and cleaning issues.
- Sign the corresponding paperwork.
Check-Out at the end of the Academic Year / Spring Semester (May)
Important Steps for All:
- Attend the check-out meetings that will be held in May at the end of your contract for full details about closing procedures. (check with your RA, calendar, and TVs, for location, date, and time)
- Print and fill out a roommate cleaning contract. All roommates need to have a copy of the cleaning contract. Also, all roommates need to sign and agree. This is beneficial for it will help distribute the cleaning of the apartment.
Find the cleaning contract here - Move all of your belongings out of the apartment. Your bedroom should be clean and empty when your Resident Assistant arrives along with anything that you have agreed to in the roommate cleaning contract.
- Prepare all your papers and elements you have to hand in:
- Room Key
- Mailbox Key
- Signed Roommate Cleaning Contract
- When the Resident Assistant arrives, have in hand all of the mentioned above for a faster check-out. Give them upon request.
- The Resident Assistant will walk your apartment and bedroom to inspect for any damages and cleaning issues.
- Sign the corresponding paperwork.
What to Clean?
In the Living Room/Common Area:
- Sweep and mop tile entry, clean window, sill, and blinds of all dust.
- Remove cushions and vacuum sofa and chair.
- Dust and/or wipe table tops, vacuum carpets, replace any burnt out bulbs.
In the Kitchen:
- Sweep and mop tile floor. Make sure you also clean the tile under the stove and refrigerator.
- Remove all items from cabinet and refrigerator.
- Wipe off the countertop.
- Thoroughly clean stove, drip pans, vent hood, and oven. Making sure the sides of the stove are free of dirt and grease.
In the Bathroom:
- Sweep and mop all tiled areas.
- Wipe vanity counter.
- Scour vanity sink with Comet or AJAX.
- Clean mirrors.
- Clear out drawers and under cabinets then wipe down with mild detergent.
- Replace any burnt out bulbs. (You can find replacements at the front desk.)
- Scrub Toilet and shower. (Comet may have to set on shower bottom for 30 min. to loosen any ground-in dirt.)
In your individual bedroom (if you are moving out):
- Remove all trash and personal items from room, drawers, and closet.
- Vacuum carpet, dust blinds, and window sill.
- Dust dresser and desktops as well as inside drawers.
- Remove and clean light fixture-replace, and replace burnt out bulbs.
Common Cleaning and Replacement Charges
These are possible charges you may acquire if you fail to clean your room/apartment thoroughly:
- Carpet not vacuumed - $25.00 (per room)
- Dirty or missing shower curtain - $15.00
- Broken or missing toilet paper holder - $10.00
- Dirty or missing drip pan - $10.00 ea.
- Carpet deodorized/Pet - $45.00 per room.
- Dirty or missing mattress - $175.00
- Damaged or missing smoke detector - $150.00
- Painting - $50.00-500.00
- Sofa damage/replacement - Up to $1,375.00
- Removal of trash - $25.00 per bag.
- Any cleaning that requires staff - $100.00 per room.
List of Charges
Damage, cleaning, and/or replacement to an apartment or bedroom may be needed. The condition is assessed at check-out. If a replacement, repair or cleaning is needed, a fee will be set based on the document attached to the right.
Fall 成人头条s or students not returning in Spring
Graduating seniors, students participating in a Study Abroad / Away program, leaving for an internship, or students canceling their contracts for any other reason, must complete a Contract Cancellation Request via the Resident Portal.
Failure to complete a check-out within this time frame may result in additional fees. Please review the housing contract for more information.

Room damages and your deposit
Room damages, or other fees such as charges related to cleaning, removal of items left behind, and replacement of broken property will be assessed and will be posted to your Gold Mine account. Failure to clean or failure to properly check out of your apartment will result in additional fees. Click the following link for these and other potential charges:
NOTE: If one roommate does not accept responsibility for noted damage or common area cleaning, all roommates will share the cost(s) and fees.

- Any cleaning that requires staff - $100.00 per room.

In the coming weeks, you should…
- Select a checkout appointment via the Resident Portal.
- Complete a cleaning contract with your roommate(s)! When are they leaving? Who will be responsible for cleaning common areas?
- Change your University records to reflect your new mailing address. Remember to also change your address with your bank, and other bills you may get sent to your box on campus.
Note to the returners: You will not be receiving the same mailbox key when you return, so make sure you change your address.
On your checkout day:
- Stop by the front desk at the time of your appoitnment and inform the desk staff that you are ready to check-out.
- Clean your empty apartment thoroughly!
- Prepare for room checkout by removing all belongings from your room, with keys in hand!
