Behavior Policies
COOPERATION WITH UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS
Residents must immediately comply with directions from all University officials, including Resident Assistant Staff. Verbal and/or physical abuse directed toward any University staff member will not be tolerated, and residents will be subject to disciplinary action. Identity of residents are easily established by means of the Miner Gold Card. For additional safety, any resident may be asked to identify themselves and verify residence at any of the entry points or at any location in Miner Village/ Miner Heights/Miner Canyon. Compliance with an RA requesting an ID is required. Guests who are hosted by Miner Village/Miner Heights/Miner Canyon residents may be asked to identify themselves at any time they visit Miner Village/Miner Heights/Miner Canyon and at any location within the Properties. Lack of compliance with such a request can result in the loss of visitation privileges.
INCIDENT REPORTS
Incidents requiring the attention or intervention are routinely reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution and the Housing and Residence Life Staff. Violations of University policies, medical and emergency situations, behavioral problems, and instances of property loss or damage are documented on Incident Report Forms and forwarded to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution and Housing and Residence Life staff for appropriate follow-up and/ or referral.
ROOM SEARCH AND ENTRY
成人头条 respects and is committed to the protection of residents' right to privacy, as well as to the safety and security of all residents. However, there are certain circumstances under which a designated University official has the right to enter any part of the Housing and Residence Life Apartments when necessary. Designated officials include but are not limited to: University Police, EMS, Fire Prevention Services Personnel, Housing and Residence Life Staff, Housekeeping, maintenance personnel and other persons authorized by the University to enter premises for the purpose of inspection or maintenance under reasonable and restrained conditions. Entry into may be made for the
following reasons.
- To conduct a search of any part of the complex and/or unit in accordance with University policy.
- The detection of an illegal activity which interferes with the normal operation of the University and/or Miner Village/Miner Heights/Miner Canyon
- If there is a violation of health regulations.
- For any emergency circumstance which may warrant a quick entry into an area or unit.
- For housekeeping or maintenance needs.
- For regularly scheduled and announced inspection and/or spraying all the units.
- For reasons concerning the safety and well-being of anyone in the apartment.
SOLICITATION
To protect residents right to privacy, canvassing or solicitation of funds, sales, memberships, subscriptions or distribution of literature is prohibited unless permission has been given by the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life or designee. State law prohibits using state property for private enterprise. No concessions or business of any type may be operated by a student, family member, or other person from the living unit or in the apartment complex. This applies to baby sitting, Avon, Tupperware, and other similar businesses run from private residences.
HORSEPLAY
Water, shaving cream, paint ball or similar "fights" are not permitted. Objects such as, but not limited to, firecrackers, water hoses, water guns, paint ball equipment and containers of water are not to be discharged or thrown in the corridors, student units, and public areas or from windows.
GAMBLING
Gambling is illegal in Miner Village/Miner Heights/Miner Canyon or on any state property.
DAMAGES/VANDALISM
Intentional damage to University property is a violation of policy and can result in restitution, disciplinary action and/or legal action. Residents are encouraged to report any act of vandalism to the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
FIGHTING
Physical abuse, assault , or any conduct that may threaten or endanger the health or safety of any persons will result in immediate disciplinary action. Should the source of the conflict be from roommates or guests, every effort will be made to separate the residents from the assigned spaces.
ASSAULT
Any physical altercation and/or verbal threats should be reported to the University Police (915) 747-5611 and your Resident Assistant. Such incidents are very serious and should be reported immediately. Involvement in such altercations will result in immediate referrals to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution.
HARASSMENT
Housing and Residence Life complies with all 成人头条 policies and federal laws regarding harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination. 成人头条 is committed to maintaining an employment and academic environment that is free from sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature. Employees and students should be aware that sexual harassment in both the work and academic environment is prohibited by 成人头条 policy and federal law. Residents have the right to a work and academic environment that is free from sexual harassment as well as discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, sexual identity, disability or veteran's status.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
Allegations of sexual assault are considered extremely serious and will be dealt with immediately. Investigations of this type of offense will include the Department of Housing and Residence Life, University Police Department and the Dean of Students Office. Students are encouraged to report any knowledge of such offenses immediately, for their own safety and the safety of others.
WEAPONS & FIREARMS
In accordance with Texas state law and the Campus Carry policies of 成人头条, only concealed handgun licensed students in Miner Village that have private bedrooms are permitted to store handguns on property, and only in their bedrooms. The specific concealed handgun location is not to be known by the roommate and must always be in a secured location (preferable in a locked safe, only to be opened by the carrier). This licensed student is responsible for knowing and abiding by all laws associated with concealed handguns as well as 成人头条 policies.
Miner Canyon and Miner Heights are identified as ‘exclusion zones’ and no handguns, concealed or stored, may be present on the properties.
Possession and/or use of any other firearms or weapons are not permitted in or around any housing properties. This includes but is not limited to bows and arrows, darts, knives, martial arts implements, BB guns, and paintball guns. The use and/or possession of fireworks or explosive devises of any type are not permitted in or around any housing properties.
