Facilities

All currently enrolled 成人头条 students that have paid their Rec Fee may access the Student Recreation Center by presenting their valid 成人头条 Miner Gold Card. Access begins on the first day of classes and continues throughout the semester until the beginning of the ensuing semester.

A limited number of lockers are available for a rental fee of $15.00 for a small locker and $25.00 for a large locker per semester.

We do not have towels available for rent.

Parking is not free. Members must purchase a parking permit from Parking & Transportation Services, and have a valid decal to park on university property. Contact Parking and Transportation if you have any further questions regarding parking at /parking-and-transportation/faqs/index.html

The Student Recreation Center in accordance with the University will be closed in observance of official state holidays as authorized by the State Legislature.

Facility Reservation

Send us a formal Letter of Request on University department letterhead, signed and endorsed by a Department Head and/or Chair. The letter to include a brief description of event/activity to be held on the facility requested, including dates, times, number of participants, etc. We ask that when requesting also, taken into consideration is the availability of the facility requested.

Due to the high volume of requests, especially during Fall/Spring semesters, we require all formal requests to be submitted no later than 4 weeks prior to the date of the event and/or activity. 

Open Recreation

University Field (UF) does not follow an “Open Recreation” schedule. This is due to the field primarily being used by Athletics, (Recreational) Sport Clubs, and Academic Classes under Professional & Public Programs (P-3). In addition, it can be reserved (via formal request) for events by University inter-departmental and RSO events.

Only 成人头条 Students, Staff or Faculty with an active Miner Gold Card may use the Multi-Purpose Field. Also, all users must carry their active Miner Gold Card at all times as random I.D. checks may be conducted.

Sport Clubs

Contact the Recreational Sports Department to make a formal application. The pre-requisites are to serve, at least, 1 year as a Registered Student Organization (RSO) under the guidance of the Student Engagement Leadership Center. In addition, the prospective club must also meet all University guidelines and procedures.

Only current, active students are permitted to participate in clubs.

The Recreational Sports Department (RSD) will decide on the appropriate number of sport clubs to sanction based on available staff, facilities, and funds.

Outdoor Adventure Programs

Yes, Located in Room 016 you can find the Outdoor Adventure Rental Area, <hyper link to our OAP rental page> here you can find anything from: Sleeping Bags, Tents, Stoves, etc.

Yes, located behind the Student Recreation Center, available upon reservation for an organized group of 10 or more. The challenge course is open to 成人头条 students, staff & faculty, Not for Profit organizations and corporate groups. Cost is based on type of program you are requesting and total amount of participants.

OAP Trips are open to Currently Enrolled Students who have paid the Recreational Fee. Faculty and Staff who are members of the Student Recreation Center and Current Faculty and Staff who are not Student Recreation Center Members. For more information you can contact Mike Espinoza at (915) 747-5103

  • The fee applied to the OAP Trips cover the following:
  • Transportation to and from the destination
  • Park and Campsite Fees (If applicable)
  • All in-camp food (If applicable)
  • All specialized equipment needed for the trip
  • All camping and camp equipment (If applicable)
  • It does NOT include
  • Any traveling meals
  • Souvenir purchases
  • Any other expenditure that you would like to make. 

The Climbing Gym can be utilized by Currently Enrolled Students who have paid the Recreational Fee. It is also open to Student Recreation Center Members such as current Faculty and Staff and Alumni. Unfortunately, no “Guests” are allowed in the Climbing Gym. 

The belay class is designed to teach the baseline of climbing gym equipment, usage and safety guidelines. The class is free of charge and all of the equipment is lent out free of charge. Even though the class is not mandatory for users. We highly encourage participants to attend the class especially those new to a climbing environment. Keep in mind that passing a Belay Test is Mandatory before utilizing the Pinnacle.

Each Semester everyone must take a new Belay Test in order to utilize the Pinnacle. A waiver must also be signed every semester in order to access the Climbing Gym

The Belay Class is free of charge and all equipment is lent out free of charge. The total class size is of 12 participants so arrive early to secure your spots. The times and dates can be found 

Intramurals

  • Go to www.imleagues.com
  • 1. Enter your information, and use your school email
  • (@miners.utep.edu - - or - - @utep.edu) and submit.
  • 2. You will be sent and activation email, click the link in the email to log in and activate your IMLeagues account.
  • 3. You should be automatically joined to your school – If not, you can search schools by clicking the “Schools” link.

  • 1. Log in your IMLeagues.com account.
  • 2. Click on: Create/Join Team at the top right of your User Homepage
  • 3. The current sports will be displayed, click on the you wish to join button
  • 4. Choose the league you wish to play (Men’s, Women’s, and Coed).
  • 5. Choose the day you would like to play in (Monday 5PM-9PM/Tuesday 5PM-9PM/etc.)

Before the captain’s meeting. Payment can ONLY be done with a credit/debit card. Payment for team sports/events are per team entry. For individual events, payment is per person.

Games are posted on imleagues.com for the whole season.

Tournament dates are also posted.

24 hours before playoffs begin

You do not need be certified to be part of the intramural refs. In-house trainings are given to prepare you for each specific sport. Please see Employment to apply.

Aquatics

As long as the swimsuit is made out of spandex, lycra, elastane, Nylon, or a combination of the aforementioned, there is no issue with the swimsuit. We, however, do NOT allow any cotton material in the pool as it affects our filtration system. Thank you for asking and visit us soon!

Yes, we highly recommend that you shower before entering the water as it helps maintain the cleanliness and chemical balance in the pool. Thank you for asking and visit us soon! 

The diving boards are typically opened during the weekends per request by a group of 4 or more people. The diving boards will not be opened, however, when there is high traffic in the competitive pool (aquatic supervisor’s discretion used). Thank you for asking and visit us soon!

There is training equipment that is available for use in the pool building. We, however, do not provide nor lend out swimming-caps nor swimming goggles. The items that are available for use on a first-come, first-served basis are: Pool buoys, float jog belts, swimming fins, water-weights, and recreational balls. The 成人头条 Student Recreation Center offers a variety of areas that can be used within the swimming facility. We recommend that you stay in areas that are comfortable enough in depth for you and are compatible with your swimming abilities. We highly recommend that you take classes to learn to swim in order to be cognizant of the swimming etiquette and safety recommendations of swimming facilities. 

Below are some of the features that make the Student Recreation Center’s swimming facility unique:

  • Recreational Pool: Depth range (0ft - 4ft6in) ADA Access 
  • Zero Entry:
  • There is a zero-entry area that gradually increases in depth from 0ft to 4ft6in. This area is popular with children, elder patrons, and provides easier access for patrons with injuries or requiring accommodations.
  • Swimming Lanes:
  • The recreational area offers 5 swimming lanes that range in depth from 3ft6in to 4ft6in, and measure 25 meters in length. The water in the recreational pool is maintained at approximately 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Water Basketball/Volleyball Area:
  • The recreational area also offers a water basketball/volleyball area where patrons can have a wonderful time with their family members or friends. The area’s depth ranges from 3ft6in to 4ft6in.
  • Competitive Pool: Depth range (3ft6in – 13ft) ADA Access
  • Swimming Lanes:
  • The competitive pool sports 10 swimming lanes that range from 3ft6in to 13ft. The swimming lanes are 25 yards in length and the water temperature is maintained at 81 degrees Fahrenheit. The four lanes in the deep end of the competitive pool can be merged to allow access to our one-meter and three-meter diving boards (see question 4 for inquiries regarding the diving boards). Diving blocks can also be placed on some of the swimming lanes (ask the aquatic supervisor for availability upon your visit).

Membership

The SRC policy requires active members to have their ID’s with them in order to check in at front desk. Active member has the option to pay the $10 Single Use Fee to access the facility

The fee would be $50.00

Active members can only buy monthly memberships for their dependents (children ages between 2-17 and spouse). 

Yes, graduate students can pay for SRC membership.

Send a written notice, either by email or in person to the membership office.

Only Students, Faculty/Staff, and Alumni can buy memberships for themselves and their dependents

The duration of an annual membership is from August 31st to September 1st, which is an academic year

Besides Students, Faculty/Staff and Alumni can buy a membership for themselves and their dependents (children ages 2-17 and spouse)

Yes, active members can bring guests by filling out a waiver form and paying the $10 single use fee

Non-members who want to use the facility (excluding climbing wall) will need to be accompanied by an active member and pay a $10 single use fee 

Annual membership fee for current FY year 2018-2019 is $230.00

Yes, children (ages 2-17) will have access only to the pool area and must be accompanied by the active member at all times

Yes, students taking on-campus credit courses will be charged the recreation fee

Alumni should be registered as a member with the Alumni Association in order to become obtain an SRC member. After, they can come in to the membership office and fill out form and pay fee

In order to purchase membership for spouse or children please go to Student 

Alumni can buy memberships at any time. The fee will depend on the date that the Alumni joins.

All students taking on-campus credit courses will be charged the Rec fee on their tuition, therefore they should have access with their valid 成人头条 ID. 

Come in to the SRC membership office and pay with a credit card, check, or money order (NO CASH) 

Employment

The Recreational Sports Department posts any job openings at the Student Recreation Center through the University Career Center; Job Mine. Part time work (19 hours per week) is available to students attending 成人头条. Students being considered for employment must be going to school full time (12 Credit Hours) and maintain a GPA of 2.0 each Fall/Spring semester.

Your resume, a copy of your school class schedule and filling out a job application are required through Job Mine. Applications and resumes are kept on file only for that specific semester.

Specific trainings are conducted through the Recreational Sports Department throughout the year. Lifeguard certifications are needed to work in the University Swimming Pools. Specific trainings are given once a prospective employee is cleared to work for the Recreational Sports Department. In order to work in the Climbing Gym you must be properly trained. Referees for Intramurals are given specific trainings for each sport.
