³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ

Dr. José D. Villalobos is a Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his doctoral degree from Texas A&M University. He is a recipient of the , a University of Texas System Curricular Innovation Grant, ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ's Most Distinguished Faculty Member Award, and ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ's Outstanding Service to the College Award in Liberal Arts. Dr. Villalobos has also garnered numerous recognitions for his research, including the  and four book awards: the , the , the , and the . He has served as an Inaugural Member of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ's Academy of Distinguished Teachers, the Provost’s Faculty Fellow-in-Residence for Community Engagement, and Chair of the Dean's Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) Program in Liberal Arts. He currently serves as Faculty Fellow for ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ's Center for Community Engagement (CCE) and member of the Provost's Community Engagement Council.

His research examines institutional leadership, public opinion and behavior dynamics, and policymaking. His journal publications include articles in: The Journal of Politics, Political Psychology, Politics & Gender, American Behavioral Scientist, Political Research Quarterly, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Public Administration, Administration & Society, and other scholarly venues. Dr. Villalobos is also co-author of  (Cambridge University Press 2021) and  (University of Michigan Press 2015). For his scholarly work connected to teaching and engagement, he is co-author of Analyzing American Democracy: Politics and Political Science, 6th edition (Routledge forthcoming) and has a chapter applying Villalobos et al.'s  framework for curricular innovation in community-engaged learning (Springer 2022). Dr. Villalobos also serves as an Associate Editor for The Social Science Journal.
