Housing
The 成人头条 Department of Residence Life provides apartment-style residence halls with several floor plans, from cozy efficiencies to two- and four-bedroom units. There are also community spaces with room for studying, recreation, private mailboxes, and administrative offices. All residence halls at 成人头条 are co-educational and ADA compliant rooms are available. SOP students interested in 成人头条 housing should contact the Department of Residence Life.
Parking
Students have the option of either purchasing a parking permit for designated reserved parking lots or park along the residential streets surrounding the Campbell Building. Students can also park near the main campus and use the campus shuttle, Miner Metro, to travel to the Campbell Building. Information on parking permits and the Miner Metros can be found on the Parking and Transportation website:
Health insurance and health center
成人头条 provides all of its students excellent health services via its Student Health and Wellness Center and counseling via its . The Student Health Center provides a variety of services including general medical care, women’s and men’s wellness examinations, nutrition services, travel medicine, and STD screenings. The Student Health Center also has a Class A Pharmacy and carries a selection of over-the-counter medication. The University Counseling Center provides counseling services in both English and Spanish. Services include, individual and group counseling, drug and alcohol recovery support services, and career counseling. Students can also access provided by Academic HealthPlans.
Office of Student Conduct and conflict resolution (OSCCR)
The mission of the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) mission is to “foster an environment of care and support through preventive practices, constructive dialogue, and exercises in behavioral intervention and accountability.” OSCCR is a great resource to aid student with ethical development, managing interpersonal conflicts, and strengthening a student’s connection to campus. If you have an issue regarding academic integrity, academic dishonesty, conflict resolution, or a similar issue, contact OSCCR.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides students with mental health services, including career counseling, psycho-educational workshops individual and groups counseling (in English and Spanish), crisis interventional and professional training experiences. Additionally, UCC, houses the 成人头条 Collegiate Recovery Program, which celebrates students in recovery. If you are in need of these services, do not hesitate to reach out to the UCC.
Center for Accommodation and Support Services (CASS)
The (CASS) provides students with documented disabilities accommodations and support services to help them pursue their academic, graduation, and career goals. Services that CASS provides include: note taking, interpreting, reader, materials in large print or braille, MP3 audio or text file, scribes and typists, and testing accommodations. To request accommodations you must contact CASS to arrange an intake appointment, and submit medical documentation to CASS during your intake appointment. Please note: documentation needs to be current and within the last three (3) years of first enrolling at 成人头条. Accommodations need to be requested two (2) weeks before the beginning of the semester. It is the student’s responsibility to make an accommodation request every semester.
The Director of CASS, in consultation with faculty, academic deans and/or chairs (if necessary), makes the final determination of an appropriate and reasonable accommodation. CASS does not mail faculty letters; it is the student’s responsibility to deliver the accommodation letter to their instructor and discuss the accommodations that will be necessary in each class. Please provide this letter at the beginning of each semester to discuss disability-related needs for the class.
Student Engagement and Leadership Center
The Student Engagement and Leadership Center (SELC) promotes the principles of Engagement, Leadership, and Inclusion by offering programs and services focused on enhancing the personal educational, leadership, and social development of students enrolled at 成人头条. The SELC has five initiatives that it oversees: (1) student organizations, (2) leadership development, (3) fraternity and sorority life, (4) inclusion, and (5) the Rainbow Miner Initiative that put to action their principles of Engagement, Leadership, and Inclusion. Programming that the SELC provides includes Inclusion and Advocacy Brown Bag Lunch series, 成人头条 LIVE leadership conference, 21st Century Scholars leadership program. Finally, SELC provides a Family Friendly Room that includes: lactation space, non-fluorescent lights, toys and games, books and magazines, rocking chair, changing table, and quiet space.
University Heights Early Learning Center (childcare)
The University Heights Learning Center, headed by the , provides childcare to students, faculty, and staff, for children ages 0-12. Meals and snacks are provided in the childcare rates. Students wanting to utilize the childcare services must with the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region. Check the University Heights Learning Center website for times and rates.
