Message from the Chair
Thank you all for making the 37th Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences Colloquium a great success! We are grateful for the inspiring Keynote “The Way to My Dreams” by Etzigueri Góngora Úbeda, the advice by our alumni & friends in the Round Table discussions, and the outstanding work by our poster and talk judges, and the kind words shared by the contributors to Professor Nicholas E. Pingitore Jr. Innovation Award reception. Many thanks also go to the organizers of the Antarctica, CIELO-G and ISSR/Critical Minerals Special Sessions, to Dr. Steven Crites, Dean of ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ school for handing out the awards, to Dr. Rip Langford for leading the field trip and last but not least to the colloquium committee. Most importantly, to those who presented their exciting research at our event we would like to say: Congratulations, you did an awesome job! We are looking forward to see you again – latest at the 38th DEERS Colloquium. |
We are always indebted to our generous donors from the past and today and this year we had an amazing gift provided by Larry Wollschlager. $2 million was donated to initiate an Institute for Sustainable and Strategic Resources. President Wilson and Dean Kirken held a reception in the Reading Room to announce this gift. Funds will support research & education efforts related to critical minerals, specifically rare earth elements that are so important in modern technology and our economy. We thank you, Larry, for all you do!!! |
We have had some significant changes in faculty in the last year. Many of you attended the retirement celebration for Professors Libby Anthony, Diane Doser, Terry Pavlis and Laura Serpa in May 2022. Luckily, an in-person event was possible, and it was obvious how much people enjoyed getting together again. Heartwarming testimonials were given for all of these faculty who have dedicated so much of their lives to ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ and our students. We salute you and hope retirement is a wonderful experience to reward you for all your hard work over the years.
To Save the Earth, Understand the Earth!
