Trying to express feelings about the loss of Hind Al-Abadleh has been difficult, but it is necessary to try to find some thoughts that will honor her life and help us move forward in a manner she would be proud of. One reason for not writing sooner is that I had a lot of anger along with sadness, but negative emotions would do no one any good and not respect Hind’s legacy. 

Instead, I will try to look to Hind’s example of how she approached every day with positivity, energy and joy. Having known Hind for a number of years and worked with her closely on a number of occasions, she always thought of others and brought all her intelligence and efforts to make the world a better place. Remembering her dedication to applying Science in the service of Society as well as her smile and laughter over lunches is an inspiration to follow in her footsteps as best we can. Selflessly and humbly doing what we can every day in spite of disappointments and setbacks will make the world a better place in the long run. 

Hind will be missed deeply by so many because her light burned brightly to illuminate the path ahead for all.
