UTEP CS Students Participate in the MSEIP AFRL & NASA Summer 2024 Intern Program
This summer, Computer Science students from the University of Texas at El Paso (³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ) had the opportunity to participate in the prestigious MSEIP Summer 2024 Internship Program with two research organizations: the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and NASA.
Students spent the summer working with AFRL mentors in Rome, NY and with NASA mentors in Huntsville, AL. Their work with these esteemed organizations provided them with valuable insights and hands-on experience in their field.

Bloomberg HSI Tech Summit 2024
Computer Science students attended the first Bloomberg HSI Summit in April 2024 in New York City. During the summit, students learned from software engineers about their inspiring stories, work, and impact on the company and the world. This was an opportunity for students to learn about the company, its culture, various roles, and opportunities for leadership growth. Additionally, students had the opportunity to participate in a Fireside Chat with the Head of Engineering, Adam Wolf.

35th Great Minds in STEM Conference
In October 2023, students from ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ's Computer Science department had an exciting experience at the 35th Great Minds in STEM Conference in Pasadena, California, which took place from October 12 to 15. During this event, they had the chance to connect with peers, attend professional sessions, present their latest research to experts in STEM fields, and engage in technical competitions like the CAHSI Data Analytics challenge and the Cyber Security Hackathon.

Lockheed Martin has funded a project in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) at the University of Texas at El Paso for a method to remotely inspect difficult-to-reach areas with high levels of quality requirements. The project currently funds four undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and IMSE and a graduate student from IMSE.

Negishi, a second year graduate student in biology with a focus on neuroscience, said he hoped his research would help contribute to the creation of a complete connectional map of the brain that pinpoints circuits that control appetite. CS Summer Program Trains Students for Research Career
Students from across the nation participated in the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program in Applied Intelligent Systems. More than 200 graduating students from across the country were chosen. Recipients must have demonstrated academic excellence by achieving and maintaining an average grade point 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
